these children healed my heart

I’d been through a difficult time and was feeling disenchanted. I knew that to get more out of life I had to invest more into it. That’s when a friend introduced me to Moja Tu. I sponsored two girls and began mentoring a young man.

Building relationships with my kids has opened a new world for me. They reconnected me with gratitude for simple things and reignited the deep sense of joy we all have inside.

Last year, I joined Moja Tu’s board of directors. Please join me and sponsor a child. You can learn more on this page. Reach out to me with any questions. And consider joining me on our next trip to Kenya to meet your child in person.

save a child from a life of poverty

Moja Tu means “Just One.” We are a women-founded, non-profit charity that helps impoverished children in Kenya out of poverty by providing education and emotional support.

For the kids we help, government-sponsored education ends between 6th and 8th grade. We support our students through high school and often University. High school graduates can obtain employment that raises them out of poverty, and college graduates can earn enough to create generational change for themselves, their communities, and their families.

Let a child know you care and you’re there for them.

Sponsors can emotionally support their children through letters and video calls, building lasting bonds and becoming extended families to children who’ve often suffered tremendous hardships and familial losses. Many sponsors join our annual trip to Kenya and meet their students in person.

Your help is crucial.

Students come from rural villages and/or children’s homes where they do not have families to support them. Sponsorship is often the difference between a young girl being married off in an early marriage in exchange for livestock or a teen boy working hard labor to barely survive for the rest of his life. The only hope these students have to get an education is getting sponsored through an organization such as Moja Tu.

We view sponsorship holistically to ensure a student’s overall wellness, which goes beyond education and includes medical and vision care and counseling where needed.

100% of every dollar helps a child.

Make a one-time donation or become a sponsor.
100% of every dollar you give goes to the student’s education and care.

See your donation transform a life.

Unlike most charitable efforts, our sponsors witness the legacy they leave firsthand. They see their students grow into capable young adults with the means to thrive.

Take action and meet your child.

SPONSORSHIP: $85.00 a month covers school tuition and materials for a high school student, and $175 per month covers tuition and materials for a University student. Co-sponsorships are available. Click here to sponsor and/or mentor a child.

Moja Tu is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Federal tax identification: 46-1860996. We will send you a receipt for your tax deduction.
