Transcript of President Clinton’s Letter:

Dear Cynthia,

Thank you for sharing your amazing story with me and for what you said about the impact of my presidency on your life and your son’s.

I did try to help anyone “willing to reach for a better life.” I did and do believe in encouraging people to bring out their best qualities, and in showing compassion for suffering, even if it is, as you said, “caused by poor choices.” I tried to create policies and a culture of possibility to make everybody think they had lives worth living and to give them the support and confidence to keep trying.

Your life is more than enough evidence that it’s all been worth it. Our country works better when people can achieve their dreams, when leaders and government create the conditions and give them the tools to do that. You’re living proof.

We’ve been through some tough times and whole new generations of young people and many not so young need to make a new beginning, in a country strengthened and united in all our diversity.

It’s simple really. Everybody counts, everybody deserves a chance, and we all do better when we lift each other up and work together.

You are Exhibit A. Out of your troubled past came a mother, lawyer, and citizen who embodies the best in America. Help us make more of you!

I will treasure your letter and your story for the rest of my life.

Sincerely,
Bill Clinton

Bio by Cynthia:

I’m not a fan of traditional bios because they’re filled with labels that tell you nothing about who a person really is inside. For example, I’m an author, a mother, and a businesswoman with a law degree. Does this help you to know who I am? Not really. I’ll try to give you a more accurate picture.

I believe that life is for living, success can only be defined by the one pursuing it, and we’re entitled to give our all to creating the life we want. I am apolitical. I don’t discriminate among parties, groups, or religions. I support ideas that bring real improvement to people’s lives. If a healing or helpful idea comes from liberals, Buddhists, conservatives, Jews or gypsies, I’ll embrace it. I love people who tell their truth, even when I disagree, and those who accept that mistakes and failures are milestones on the path to greatness. I wither around gossip and doomsayers.

Tell me what you yearn for, and you’ll captivate me. I’ve soared to tremendous heights and suffered soul-ripping tragedy. I choose hope, love, perseverance and wonder. I’ve learned that we are far more alike than different and we all want the same primary thing: to be secure, peace-filled, and content. My mission is to help women create loving, laughter-filled, abundant lives (men benefit from happy women).

~ Cynthia
